I had long dreamed of becoming a therapist due to the positive impact therapy has had on my life. As a young girl, my mother took me to a counselor to help me process my parents' separation, prior to their divorce. There was quite a significant change for me in many ways as I was aided through the painful transition in my family.
It was during this time that I started to realize the impacts counseling has had on my life. Also, a need began to grow within me to serve others in much the same way I had received. Recognizing the importance of my first counseling experience, I continued to seek counseling on and off throughout the years. I truly believe that I would be a different person, potentially lost in a dark place, were it not for therapy. Because of the positive impacts therapy has had on me during my life, it is my passion to pay this forward and positively impact those in need of help and guide those in need of new paths.
I graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit with a Master of Arts in Counseling. My professional roles have included author, professor, counselor, and special education teacher. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, teens, and parents. My education and career path, coupled with my life experiences, have molded me into the person and counselor I am today.
